LEAD VOCALS and SAXOPHONES

Bobby's story is really a tale of two instuments, saxophone and voice. Bob started playing sax in the fith grade and has been immersed in music ever since. During high school Bobby studied music theory, sang with the mixed choir, male choir, barbershop quartet and played baritone sax in the Suffolk County All Star Jazz Band. He also composed and  performed with the piano ensemble.

In his twenties Bobby played sax, keyboards and sang with the touring band Nasty, playing clubs up and down the east coast. After coming off the road Bob worked with Night Shift Studios, learning sound and production techniques. In 1985 Bobby joined the Latin rock band Malo (best know for their hit single "Suavecito"), touring and appearing on the album "Malo Coast to Coast".

Bobby considers his time on the road as a full time musician his most valuable music education. "I've always tried to work with guys who were better than me, so I could learn from them. Being on stage five or six nights a week really helped my stage presence. It's not just about playing your ax, you have to entertain and interact with an audience."

After studying voice with Perry Ames, Bobby decided it was time to step up and take on the role as lead singer. His many vocal influences including Steven Tyler, Bobby Kimball, Jackie Wilson, James Brown, Gladys Knight, Freddy Mercury, Teddy Pendergrass, Daryl Hall, Stevie Wonder and Paul Rodgers help him straddle both rock and soul genres. After performing in many local bands, Bobby was tapped to front Down and Dirty in 1999. His soaring vocals and amazing energy have helped propel the band to the status of one of the most entertaining bands on the circuit.
